2004- The universe’s largest known diamond is discovered BPM 37093 is a white dwarf star about 50 light-years from Earth and was nicknamed “Lucy”.

1976 –  In Nigeria Gen’l. Murtala Muhammad in the ruling junta was killed in a coup attempt and his deputy, Gen’l. Olusegun Obasanjo, was named president.
