A look at the highlights this day April 4;

1968 – Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., 39, was shot and killed on a balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

1960 – Senegal declares independence from France

1975 – Microsoft is founded as a partnership between Bill Gates and Paul Allen to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800

Tell a Lie Day – Although lying shouldn’t be encouraged, truth is we’ve got to acknowledge that lying is well, part of life. Let’s be honest sometimes people have to lie to make others feel better, sounds familiar?  aka white lies. Lol…So you’re permitted, tell a “harmless” lie today, but remember to switch back to maintaining a clean record asap.

1999 –  Nigeria’s military government freed 47 political prisoners including General Oladipo Diya. In 1997 Diya and dissident soldiers in the military allegedly planned to overthrow the regime of Sani Abacha. Diya and his cohorts were jailed and sentenced to death by firing squad in April 1998 but was later freed.

That’s it on Today In History.
