Tongues Wag Over FG Termination of NPA’S Contract With Atiku’s Company

There has been growing suspicion in the political circle over the Federal Government’s termination of contractual agreement with integrated Logistics Services (Intels), a company jointly owned by former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar and an Italian, Gabriele Volpi.

News has it that the Federal Government asked the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to void the boats pilotage agreement it has with Intels, a logistics and facilities services provider in the maritime, oil and gas sectors.

Sources within the political circle said the termination of contractual agreement of Intels with the NPA is political, irrespective of the reasons adduced by the FG. There is speculations that this decision is taken because “Atiku is airing his logical views about the government.” Moreso, he is gearing towards contesting for the 2019 Presidential seat, said our sources.

It would be recalled that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, said the agreement between Intels and NPA ,which allowed Intels receive revenue on behalf of NPA for 17 years, violates sections 80(1) and 162(1) and (10) of the constitution, hence the termination of agreement through a letter to the Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Bala-Usman from the FG.
