Tony Nwoye wins Anambra’s APC primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Anambra State ended with a member of the House of Representatives and former NANS president, Tony Nwoye emerging as the standard flag bearer of the party.

The Chief Returning Officer, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State who announced the results, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka, the state capital on Sunday, said 42-year old medical doctor, Tony Nwoye won the poll with a total of 2,146 votes to defeat his rival, Senator Andy Uba who got 931 votes.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) had eleven governorship aspirants and 5,430 delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state participating in the exercise .The eleven (11) aspirants for the governorship election and the votes they garnered are listed below.

Tony Nwoye – 2,146 votes,Senator Andy Ubah -931 votes,George Moghalu -525 votes,Bart Nwibe – 414 votes,John-Bosco Onunkwo -85 votes, Madu Nonso – 21 votes,Nwike Patrick -20 votes, Obidigbo Chike -22 votes,Okonkwo Donatus -10 votes,Uzor Obinna -17 votes,Uchegbu Adaobi -1 vote.
