Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed talks are set to take place over a potential extension to Frank Lampard’s loan deal, and also dismissed any suggestion Sergio Aguero could be sold.

Lampard signed a contract with new MLS franchise New York City after leaving Chelsea in the summer, but was sent to sister club City on loan to maintain his fitness ahead of the U.S. club’s first official matches in March 2015.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed Arsenal’s chances of signing James McCarthy — after weekend newspaper reports suggested that the Gunners were planning a 16 million-pound bid for the Republic of Ireland midfielder — but sees the link as a compliment.

McCarthy, 24, signed a long-term contract when he joined Everton from Wigan in September 2013 for 13 million-pounds, and Martinez sees him staying on Merseyside for years to come.

On-loan Real Madrid striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez will seek “assurances” from his next club that he will play regularly.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar attracting interest as Schalke contract nears expiry

Schalke have confirmed other clubs are showing interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as the Netherlands international approaches the final six months of his contract.

Huntelaar, 31, scored the fourth Bundesliga hat trick of his career as Schalke beat Mainz 4-1 on Saturday, taking his tally to 101 goals in 157 competitive matches for the Royal Blues.

His contract is due to expire in the summer, though, and Schalke had intended to wait until the winter break to try to finalise an extension.

Marco Reus’s agent has dismissed reports of negotiations with Bayern Munich, telling kicker he was not in talks with the Bundesliga champions.

Persistent rumours have suggested that the 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund star is set to trigger a 25 million-euro release clause in his contract and join Bayern next summer.

But Dirk Hebel told football magazine kicker: “There is no topic of Marco Reus and FC Bayern Munich, and there are no talks.”
