Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was on Tuesday accused of not being a “good party man” by his Political Godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Both men have allegedly been having issues for a while. A rift that led the APC chief to endorse Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the incumbent governor.

Speaking to journalists at the end of voting in the Lagos APC governorship primary elections, TInubu acknowledged the work Ambode has done as Governor but says his failures as a party member is what has cost him the APC ticket.

There are talks of how Ambode sidelined many members of the party in his inner circuit. With many others saying he was stingy to those around him, hence the gang up.

There’s also the LAWMA and Visionscape saga with the governor scrapping the former for the latter. A move that saw many members of the party lose their positions.

Tinubu also claims Ambode neglected the blueprint of Lagos state that was set by him and built on by Fashola.
Two days before the Primaries, Governor Ambode tried to deny the obvious, telling the public there was no rift.

“I want you to know that there is no fight anywhere. The national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and my good self are not in any fight. We are not in any controversy.”

But this speech did very little to change the fortunes that befell him days later when the results were announced.

The Asiwaju of Lagos on Tuesday said the issue wasn’t ‘personal’ as it was beyond him. He even tagged the speculations of a rift with him and Ambode as insulting to him.

Governor Ambode held a press conference today, where he conceded defeat and congratulated Sanwo-Olu.
