In a country where feminists are seen as angry women, it is refreshing to see a Nigerian Muslim lady go on to achieve her dreams. Our personality of the day goes to Habiba Dagash who graduated with a First Class in Engineering from the prestigious Oxford University.

Unlike many girls her age, Habiba has plans to get to the pinnacle of her educational pursuits. She had her secondary school education at Loyola Jesuit in Abuja, St Mary’s school Cambridge and is a PHD student at the Imperial College in London.

The excited lady is one who believes in the total education of the girl child.

While Nigeria has a long way to go in the struggle for the girl-child education and emancipation, it is comforting to know that times are changing and ladies are unshackling themselves from archaic traditions and norms.
